My experience with Wise has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. What started as a verification concerning approximately €500 turned into a week-long process involving multiple support agents, repeated explanations, document submissions, and eventually the restriction of my account. The funds were an expense reimbursement from a company for legitimate business expenses I had personally paid on its behalf. Wise’s system repeatedly requested a personal Tax Return even though this was not salary, dividends, self-employment income, or other personal income. After several conversations, Wise Support explicitly instructed me to upload my Annual Report, invoices/receipts, personal bank/card statements, and written explanation through the Tax Return upload field. I followed those instructions exactly. A Wise representative then confirmed that all documents had been received, my submission was in the review queue, and the review would typically take one working day. Instead of receiving the result of that review, my account was restricted shortly afterwards. The restriction email provided no clear reason, and support told me they could not disclose the reason and that I now had to start a separate appeal process. I fully understand that financial institutions must conduct compliance checks. My complaint is about how poorly this process has been handled. I cooperated fully and followed Wise’s own instructions, yet every attempt to resolve one issue seems to create another. After a week of repeated conversations and submissions, this process has been slow, fragmented, inefficient, and deeply disappointing. My case remains unresolved. If Wise corrects the situation, I will update this review accordingly.

Worst KYC experience ever, I love the fact that they are on e-resident while they may block your account at any time (experience with 2 accounts). Search for other options, do not spend your time with this company/bank.

whilst trying to open a business account, my account was deactivated. my non existent account. when I try to appeal it says my account has been deactivated. it is truly a horrible service.

Wise replied June 2025

Hello there, Ahmet. Deactivating accounts isn't something we take lightly. It's often a result of a conflict with our Customer Agreement, or due to a discrepancy with a financial law. We can't always share the exact reason for the deactivation, due to how we're regulated. However, you can find some possible reasons here: https://wi.se/accountdeactivation. For more help, please contact us at http://wi.se/help, by clicking "Trouble logging in?", select an issue, click "I still need help", then "Contact us” . We are happy to assist you. - Wise

This electronic bank is the most arbitrary bank I have ever known and we have had a totally illegal and dangerous experience that we have seen, after starting to receive income and at the moment of receiving a transfer of 990 thousand dollars of investments in our account, they have deactivated us the account and they have stolen our money and we have been calling support for more than 1 month and the only thing they do is say that they escalate your case to another person without giving you an answer as to why they decide to deactivate your company account and look for a way to steal from you the money without giving a legal and correct explanation

Wise replied June 2025

Hello there, Raul. We aren't a bank, but we're a regulated financial institution. We follow a strict series of rules in every country we operate it, so stealing is definitely not what we're doing here. We believe our customers deserve the best, so we’re sorry to hear that our support fell short of your expectations. We’re big on feedback, and anything you have to share is important to us. We follow a strict set of rules set out by regulatory agencies in every country we operate in – like the FCA in the UK. These agencies protect you and the market we operate in. Our regulators also monitor us to make sure that what we say and do is in line with their standards. When we close an account with money in it, we have to complete due diligence checks. Once they’re completed, we’ll get in touch about refunding your money. It was the worst service I have ever received. They closed my account without giving a reason, even though I submitted all the documents. Their customer service is a disgrace, they are very amateur, definitely stay away.

Wise replied June 2025

Hello there, Murat. We know that having your account closed is frustrating, but we never do so without a reason. Account closure is usually a result of a conflict with our Terms of Use.
