Initially I was very pleased. Communication flowed well, my accountant sorted out most situations and used read-only access to my bank to check balances and remind me of missing items. I could simply e-mail invoices and explanations. If something was missing, I would be told exactly what. I received better and more personalized service than what I was used to from previous providers and I felt I was in good hands. When I got switched to a new accountant a lot of friction started. Many small issued required lots of e-mails back and forth. I was expected to do much more on my own which I was not used to (and which the previous Incorpora accountant had done for me). There were many big and small misunderstandings. The English explanations were often unclear. This increased both the time I spent on accounting but also the hours used by my accountant, so I had to start paying more. I was expected to do things I was not used to, specifically performing many tasks in an accounting program (Odoo) which I am not used to, is very complex and full-features, and has poor documentation. I was expected had to manually export all my banking data and upload it into the system and make sure it was uploaded correctly, and I often made mistakes. If I made mistakes, they would either not be found until far later or the e-mails I would get from my accountant would often only say something like "please check the accounting program and make corrections". I would open the program, have no idea what I needed to do, and another long chain of back-and-forth e-mailing would start. It got to the point where I would avoid making small company expenses because of the hassle. It drove me crazy. I have never spent so much time on my accounting and the results were worse than what I'm used to. For example, my invoices all had "False" as a title because of a configuration issue I could not fix and which was not fixed for me, even though I asked multiple times. As another example¸ I found out in the beginning of 2022 that my annual report for 2020 had never been submitted. My original accountant had been putting it together but when I got switched to a new accountant the fact is was not done somehow got lost. In the end it was not a big problem to submit late, but it makes me worry because I'm trusting my accountant to make sure my accounting and reporting is in order, that's what I want to hire them for, not just doing basic bookkeeping. Next time it might be something more serious. The staff at Incorpora were always nice and respectful. But in the end they could not give me the level of service I'm used to, and we couldn't find compromises, even after a year of trying. I have since switched providers and now I spend far less time on my accounting and more on my work.
